About this property

Welcome to Hotel Breakers

Perched on a cliff with views of the Gualala River and the Pacific Ocean, Hotel Breakers offers a quiet, homey experience along California's coastal Route 1. The property features ocean-view rooms decorated with breezy, geography-themed touches, creating a relaxed atmosphere that appeals to those seeking a calm coastal getaway. Some rooms include fireplaces and hot tubs, adding comfort without the trappings of a large resort.

This four-star hotel provides practical amenities such as free Wi-Fi, free parking, a restaurant, bar, and is both pet- and kid-friendly, making it suitable for families and travelers with pets. Although there is no fitness center or airport shuttle, guests can enjoy a hot tub and accessible facilities. A complimentary continental breakfast is offered, though reviews indicate limited dining options within the property itself, so some guests bring their own food or explore nearby eateries.

Located just three miles from the Del Mar Landing Ecological Reserve and within walking distance of two grocery stores and several restaurants, the inn is well positioned for visitors interested in local attractions like the Gualala Arts Center, Bowling Ball Beach, and Dolphin Gallery. While some guests have noted the lack of direct beach access due to the river's width, the ocean views and neighboring outdoor activities help balance this.

Guest feedback highlights the clean, comfortable rooms and spectacular sunsets, though some mention dated decor and occasional housekeeping inconsistencies. Wi-Fi quality may vary inside rooms but tends to improve on balconies or porches. The absence of air conditioning is offset by the cool coastal breezes and open windows favored by many visitors. Overall, Hotel Breakers suits travelers seeking a peaceful, scenic stopover with a laid-back vibe rather than a full-service hotel experience.

The views are amazing, the room was clean and comfy. They allow dogs which is great. We booked three rooms last minute for a drive along the coast we were doing as a family and were very happy. We didn't have much interaction with staff but what we did we found them to be very nice and accommodating. While it's not some big resort or hotel it was a perfect small beach town stay. Only downside is I thought based on the pictures there was beach access but because the river is so large you couldn't easily get to the beach (from what we found) however the views from the room and *windows that open* made the beach feel right there without having to get sandy. All of us agreed we would stay again anytime. Listen to front desk pretty much everything in town closes at 8 pm.

This is a beautiful place with spacious rooms overlooking the beach. Room is big. Duralog fireplace. Beds are on the soft side. Shower has good water pressure and a drenching head as well as wand. Good quality soaps too. No A/C so if there's a heat wave going on it might be unpleasant, but the whole appeal to me is sleeping with the windows open and listening to the waves crash.

Within walking distance there are 2 grocery stores, breakfast places, restaurants and activities. Across the street is a Mexican bakery and they have the best hand made desserts ever. I'm going back just for that. The rooms are phenomenal. The views are spectacular. We brought our portable heater and spent our time on the deck. It was very relaxing and we can't wait to go back. This is where you go for a quiet, relaxing vacation.

3/2024 only stayed one night. The view was excellent, big room downstairs, looking straight out to the ocean. Has fireplace, jet tub, shower. The customer service was great. We drove from Sacramento, the lady called beforehand to help us check in, super patient in explaining different room types for our preference. One minus is the room's floor was a bit sticky. Hope they will mop the floor more often. Everything else was good. Recommended.

I stayed in late September and it was an amazing stay. Great ocean view, clean room, comfortable bed, the shower was nice with a detachable spray nozel and had shampoo/conditioner. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Amazing ocean sounds and minimal noise from the road and other guests. Stayed here on another occasion for work and had the pioneer themed room. Beds were super comfortable and the ocean view was amazing. Also there was a nice tub to take a bath in. Unfortunately there wasnt much wifi service until you stepped on the porch.

I had a very pleasant two night stay here during their off season in season in January so it was very peaceful. My room was on the top floor and had a great view. The room was somewhat dated but clean and comfortable. The room had a refrigerator and microwave which made it convenient to have food in the room since there are limited dining choices but there are two grocery stores within walking distance.

We absolutely loved our stay — the room was clean and beautiful, the balcony had stunning views, and the Vue kitchen and Surf Market are literally steps away.
